Despite the Amazon description of this as a "portable dvd player", this is strictly a shelf unit, nothing portable about it. The product box it ships in even describes it as a "micro-shelf unit". Because the Amazon product description calls it portable, and because one reviewer stated that it could be used with the speakers separated or as one unit, I mistakenly believed the speakers were attachable and the unit could be moved about as a portable unit. This is not the case. The speakers are strictly detached with about four feet of cable for each. We wanted to be able to pick it up at a moments notice and carry it to the basement during storms and also take it on trips. It cannot be used for either easily, and there is no handle with which you can carry it or battery option, hence it just is not a portable TV/DVD player.

The Coby TFDVD7091 is perfect for your office shelf. It has so many features and they all work surprising well. The TV is HDTV with an over-the-air $10 antenna and the picture quality is terrific at 7 inches. It has a USB port plus a SD card slot. I don't know of another unit available with all these features. The speakers are separate from the center unit which allows them to be placed apart or used as one piece. Easy setup. I am a tech guy and this unit totally impressed me for the money. Amazon has by far the best pricing and the delivery was super quick.

has a few flaws.. like the DVD/CD drawer was super flimsy.. so i just removed it.. also you have to flip through all the inputs to get to what you want instead of dedicated input buttons.. does play AVI/XVID files on USB/SD card reader without a hitch.. speakers are true 2 way with woofer/tweeter.. and the system can get quite loud.. it is loaded with other cool stuff too.. tons of positive aspects.. there is no clock.. which is odd.. since it has a florescent display that stays on after you power it down.. these few quirks do not deter from how flexible and awesome this item is.. worth every penny.. highly recommended.. had it for 2 months now with no issues.. you wont be dissapointed..

good news! had the unit for 4 months with no issues.. but the one thing that annoyed me is that with the florescent display, it should have a clock function, but it didnt.. at least it wasnt listed in the manual.. but i discovered it does by accident!
