You get a lot for the money but the quality is definitely not the absolute best. It has worked great and I'm pleased with the price but the actual appearance (the type of plastic, buttons, etc) is definitely cheap looking. Nothing has broken and it seems to work great so far but I probably would not have picked out this item had I seen it in person - definitely not the quality of a higher end DVD player. It was for my two year old son so I chose to keep it because I imagine he'll be pretty rough on it anyway and now I won't worry so much!
